The Role

The Humberston Church of England Primary School has an exciting opportunity for a lunchtime supervisor to join our Church school family on a casual basis, working alongside our friendly staff and our super children in our forward thinking school.

Our school prides itself on giving pupils an enjoyable and safe lunchtime, filled with fun, compassion and respect everyday. The majority of our lunchtime supervisors are also Teaching Assistants within our school who often undertake many other tasks during the day. As such, we are looking for a hardworking, reliable and approachable person to join our lunch team on a casual basis who can step in, sometimes at short notice, when a Teaching Assistant is needed elsewhere within their role.

As we are a busy school, attending many visits and events, we anticipate that this role will involve frequent cover and may involve full weeks at a time.

We are looking for someone who:

  • has a passion for education and shows dedication and commitment to the children’s needs.
  • is kind, approachable and committed to supporting the Christian ethos of the school.
  • has high expectations of themselves and pupils, being able to model the manners and behaviours we would like our children to display.
  • is able to form and maintain positive working relationships with pupils and colleagues
  • is happy to work both outdoors supervising playtime and in a busy lunch hall
  • is happy to work as part of a team to set out and clear away the tables and chairs ready for or following a lunchtime service.
  • is able to conduct relative cleaning duties such as sweeping the hall floor after service and wiping down tables.

In return we can offer

  • the support and shared expertise of an excellent team
  • well behaved, kind pupils
  • some flexibility around working days

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect the same commitment from all staff and volunteers.

Applicants of this customer-facing role will have the ability to provide advice and guidance in accurate spoken English, as required under the Immigration Act 2016

Safeguarding Information

The St Lawrence Academies Trust is committed to providing a safe environment for children and young people to live and learn. To achieve this, it is important that there are processes in place to identify, deter, and reject unsuitable people from working with children and young people. Safer recruitment involves a range of checks that enable the Trust to make informed recruitment decisions on whether a potential employee is suitable to work in a post involving contact with children.

Recruitment decisions will be based on consideration of all aspects of the recruitment process, including pre-employment checks, taking account of any gaps in the context of the information that is available, and a full risk assessment if necessary.
